Important Do's and Don'ts for a healthy skin

Important Do’s and Don’ts to get naturally glowing skin

Flawless skin is the dream of every woman. But getting it is not so easy and maintaining it even more difficult. One late night leads to wrinkles and dark circles in the morning.

Even though we all know very well about the most effective and important Cleansing Toning and Moisturizing routine, not all of us follow it religiously. Most of us try new moisturizers, creams, sunscreens, face washes, wrinkle creams, anti-aging creams, and whatnot. Then all of us have different skin types. Some of us have oily skin, some have dry skin and some have combination skin. Then all of us also have different types of routines and lifestyles.

However irrespective of the skin type, the lifestyle and routine we have, there are certain basic do’s and don’ts which all of us women need to keep in mind. If these are followed all the time, no one can stop us from getting naturally glowing and healthy skin. These are the most basic and most important actions that we need to take for our skin.

The thumb rule

Do: you need to always ensure that you properly remove makeup before going to bed. No matter how tired you are, you should never leave your makeup on overnight. Your skin needs to relax and breathe during the night. Makeup prevents this since leaving it overnight clogs your pores and this may cause blackheads and blemishes. You would definitely be having a makeup remover. Apply some Olive-oil on a cotton swab and massage gently on the face to get away all the makeup and dirt.

Don’t- don’t forget to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliation is an indispensable process of your skincare regime. You need to do it at least once or maybe twice a week. Exfoliation removes all the dead skin lawyers leaving your skin being more bright and healthy. You may also try a mixture of walnut powder and yogurt for exfoliating the skin. The anti-oxidants which are there in walnuts help in removing the dirt and promote healthy and radiant skin.

Your skin and sun

Do- Sunscreen having SPF with at least 15-30 is a must. It should be capable of blocking the UVB as well as UVA rays. As a lifetime of exposure from the sun can cause aging spots, wrinkles and other issues of the skin, you need to protect it from the sun’s harmful rays. Make sure that the label on your sunscreen says “nonacnegenic” or “noncomedogenic” so that it doesn’t block your pores.

Don’t- never ever skip your sunscreen. Whether it is cloudy outside or cold, don’t forget to apply it. In case you are going to the beach or anywhere close to the reflective surface like ice or snow, apply your sunscreen. In such situations, you need at least SPF 30 of sunscreen.

Your diet

Do: Take note of your diet carefully. Consume a lot of fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, enough amounts of vitamins and proteins. Take a diet that is rich in Vitamin C and very low in sugar and fats as it would promote healthy and glowing skin. You may consider low sugar foods which help in keeping the level of insulin down, helping the cells to retain a healthy balance.

Don’t- Avoid having fermented and spicy foods, citrus fruits, salt, fried foods, etc. Instead of all these go for favor blander food like oatmeal, rice, applesauce, etc.

Work it out

Do- Work out daily. Jogging, running, yoga, etc. help in giving the body the required blood- circulation and it also helps in accelerating the process of cleansing the whole body. You would experience a healthy glow on your face post work out sessions. In case you are not able to jog or run, you can do some brisk walking in the evening.

Don’t- do not skip your skincare routine before as well as post-workout sessions. Apply a good toner so that the production of oil is minimized before you head out. After the workout sessions exfoliate your skin and apply some good oil like olive oil or shea butter to give moisture to your skin.

Beauty sleep

Do- try to take at least 8-9 hours of sleep every day. When you don’t get the required amount of sleep, the skin starts getting tired and then it sags. So, you should not risk it. You may even apply honey on your skin two or three times a week to heal and soothe your skin naturally.

Don’t- You should never forget to moisturize and wash your face properly before sleeping. For people who have dry skin, mild cleansers are the best. Apply a good amount of moisturizer and try to avoid hot and warm water as it would dry your skin excessively.

Have plenty of water

Do- keep yourself hydrated. Have plenty of water regularly. You should have a minimum eight glasses of water every day. Also, you should have fruits as well as a vegetable which have good content of water like cucumber, watermelon, orange, grapefruit, strawberry, and cantaloupe. Drinking water from a blue color bottle is quite beneficial as it’s got a cooling effect on the skin.

Don’t- you should never ignore rose water. Rosewater is quite helpful in preventing as well as reducing the puffiness under the eyes which happens in the morning. It also helps in maintaining the pH balance and it hydrates the skin naturally if you use it in the morning.

Saying goodbye to acne

Do- Wash and clean your face thoroughly with lukewarm water at least thrice a day and massage it gently in a circular motion, making sure that your cleanser has alpha-hydroxyl acids or beta hydroxy acids. The face packs which have fuller’s earth are the best. After cleaning your face, pat it dry and then apply a moisturizer which has Benzoyl Peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is known to be quite effective because of the antibacterial actions it has.
Don’t- You should never pop your pimples as it might lead to swelling, scarring or redness. In case you feel that a pimple is going to pop up, just thoroughly clean the part of the skin with Rose-water and keep a cool green-tea bag for at least ten minutes. Also, the people who wear sunglasses or glasses need to ensure that you clean your face frequently for keeping the oil from collecting on the pores around your nose and eyes.

Going back to the roots

Do: Try to use only Ayurveda scrubs for nourishing your skin and helping it breathe in a better way. Fortunately enough, everything which you require is there in your kitchen already.

2 tablespoon of chickpea flour, ½ tablespoon of turmeric powder, a bit of camphor or sandalwood or both with rose water, water or milk will be your perfect pack.

Don’t- you should never neglect the basic things. You can consider making Sudarshan Kriya the basic beauty mantra. It is quite easy. You just need to breathe right to get rid of the pimples and spots. It is actually a technique of breathing that incorporates the particular natural rhythms of breathing which harmonizes the mind, the body as well as emotions. This, in turn, helps in releasing the accumulated stress.

Spa everyday

Do-Follow a skincare routine regularly. For people who have dry skin, use fresh cherries mask. Just apply the pulp of the fresh cherry on the face before sleeping. Leave it on for 15 mins and rinse off with lukewarm water.

Don’t- Do not forget to give yourself a little pampering. Face massage with the help of oils is quite helpful. On the basis of your skin type, you can pick up the oils like coconut, mustard, almond, etc. as they’re wonderful agents for nourishing the skin.

Healthy habits

Do- Do devote time to you and try avoiding stress. Just notice that whenever you’re stressed, you get more pimples? This is mainly because stress causes the body to ignite cortisol as well as other hormones which make the skin oily. Consider practicing stress management techniques such as breathing exercises or yoga. More you will meditate, the more you would radiate.

Don’t- You should never neglect your facial muscles as well as jawline. Only for five minutes in a day, perform some facial exercises. You may jut out the lower lip in a way that the wrinkles are developed on your chin, and then lower the chin towards your chest. Another useful exercise which works quite efficiently is looking up to the ceiling and putting it. It helps in stretching the facial muscles.

You may be dressed right, but still, you require something for completing your look. That is your beautiful smile. While we devote a lot of our time as well as energy in honing our body as well as looks, we often forget about expressing our inner happiness and joy.

Smiling helps in maintaining and toning the facial muscles as well as the skin. Thus, you should try to keep it always.
