Designs which ruled the runway this spring

From the flounces inspired by Spanish trends to paper bag waist, these are some of the fashion trends which were witnessed on the fashion week runways.

Suede inspired from the 70’s

If you were thinking that the fashion folks were done with the 70s quintessential love affair, then you would be surprised to know that you are wrong. Alberta Ferretti, Jonathan Saunders, Rebecca Mink off, Olivier Rouesteing and everyone else showcased suede inspired pieces on the runway which has become the decade’s most beloved fabric.

Everything Victorian

Puffy sleeves, ruffles, high collar neckline, and florals were the Victorian era influenced pieceswhich were shown by J.W.Anderson, Emilia Wickstead and many others on the ramp.

The X factor

It was a new riff for the off shoulder tops which we saw last spring. Spotted at Givenchy, Proenza Schouler, etc. the silhouette was a huge hit.

White shirt

The basic white shirt always dominates spring. The classic Oxford style shirt was given a makeover and from a simple shirt it was made soaped up.

Flat mules

Super comfy shoes are always in trend and this year is no different. Thanks to the big brands like Alexander Wang, Trademark, Victoria Beckham, Eden, etc.it’s been doing the rounds in the most stylish way possible.

Spanish influences

A lot of designers incorporated a lot of Spanish fashion in their outfits on the runway. Bold red totally ruled the collection this time.

Pleats

The designers this time preferred working with the tidier and tighter sharp knife pleats.

Paper bag waist

Even though it is not for everyone as it is not so easy to put on, top designers like Tome, Public School and Phillip Lim sent the spacious silhouettes down the runway.

All net pieces

A lot of designers also showcased nude net this time on the runway. The outfits were ravishing and spoke of the expertise of the designers.

Marled knits

You might think what is a knitting section doing in a spring fashion show. But, once you will see the work of Michael Kors, Jason Wu, Wes Gordon and BCBG, you will realize knits is a lot more than just winters.

Lingerie

The usual pieces of lingerie which are noticed only in the bedrooms are making their way even in the broad day light.

Fringes

Fringes have been designer’sfavorite for quite some time now. And with the designs on the runway this spring, it is sure that it will be staying back for a while.

Light weight denim

The denim m meant for the warm weather is not new to any of us. But, the designers chose to show it for spring this time. A lot of denim dresses, skirts, shirts, etc. were seen on the ramp.

Half-moon bags

Till now bucket bags were ruling the bags world but now there is a new entrant. It is totally stealing the hearts from the runway itself. The half-moon bags are going to take the fashion world by storm for sure. All the big designers are being attracted by the new half-moon shape bags.

Orange

Orange was quite highlighted in the collections of designers like Baja East, Altuzarra and many others. It can surely be a color of the season.

Huge plaids were spotted on the runway. The designers like Marissa Webb, Victoria Beckham, and Wes Gordon chose to showcase their collections which also had huge plaids in it.

So all in all the runway was quite surprised by the designers as they introduced and reintroduced a lot of new and old styles. We are eagerly waiting for the collections to hit the markets.
