For making goldstone, copper salts are added to this molten glass material. After this, glass is left to cool down in the low oxygen atmosphere. When the glass completely cools down, the copper converts into a purely metallic state, exhibiting shiny flecks. It is actually tiny particles of copper that gets suspended in the glass. They are generally hexagonal and triangular in shape. For producing another variety of goldstone in different colors different coloring agents are added the molten glass along with copper. For purple goldstone manganese is added, for green goldstone chromium oxide is added, and for blue goldstone cobalt is added. The hardness of Goldstone on the Moh’s scale is 5.5.
