Istanbul Jewelry Show Gets Underway, Doors Open for Professional Buyers

The Istanbul Jewelry Show, considered to be one of Turkey’s top trading platforms, is all geared up for another successful year. The 41st edition of the jewelry show will open its doors at the Istanbul Fair Center (CNR Expo). The jewelry fair is expecting thousands of professional buyers. The fair will open on October 15 and run till the 18th.

The biannual jewelry show, organized by UBMRotaforte, is considered to be an ideal platform for business-to-business transactions of jewelry and gemstones. Companies that are seeking to expand their business into the Turkish shore as well as the market itself in the EU, Middle East, CIS Nations, and Russia usually attend the Istanbul Jewelry Show.
At last year’s edition, the IJS attracted over 15,000 buyers and had 841 exhibitors from 26 countries. The top visiting countries included the Russian Federation. Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Greece, Algeria, Italy, UAE, Azerbaijan, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco, etc. 64 percent of buyers were from Turkey itself.
According to SerminCengiz, the managing director of UBMRotaforte, IJS plays an important role as it helps the Turkish jewelry industry to reach its growth targets. He also said that by 2017 the industry is poised for a $5 billion worth of export.
