Indian Jewellery Show Closes With Strong Sales and Record Attendance

The 32nd International Jewelry show organized by GJEPC (Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council) in Mumbai from 6-9th August 2015 ended with strong sales and record attendance in spite of having a cautious opening. The chairman of GJEPC, Mr. Vipul Shah stated that they never expected such kind of response. The attendance at the jewelry show was about 10-15% while gold jewelry sold out in the first days while diamond sellers witnessed slower sales yet none that JCK communicated with appeared upset, noting the producers and the market’s cyclical nature.

On this occasion former chairman of GJEPC, Mr. Sanjay Kothari stated that people came to this show with low expectations, thus they are happy and the gold people particularly are really happy. The initial two days were big for gold while the concluding two days were big for diamonds. It is a domestic show hence gold is likely to be the key seller here and for diamonds, people need to wait till the close of the show to check the conversion rates, he said.

Director of popular brand Kapu Gems, Mr. Kalpesh Vaghani stated that they had enormous inquiries in this jewelry show yet far less business compared to what they had hoped. He concluded stating that they are waiting to see how it ends.
