The much awaited New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 is finally underway and like every year, we can’t wait to see all the exciting fashion line-ups. With all eyes on the catwalk, we are keeping a close watch on the latest trends, accessories and everything else that’s worth attention. As expected, we have already seen quite a few debutantes displaying their designs on the first day. Here are a few designers who caught our attention.
The debutante presented her first LC Lauren Conrad runway collection for her limited edition collection of Kohl’s line. During her show, we got to see a lot of fairytale details, line rife, tulle skirts, all-over sequins and airy fringes. Conrad is not a new name in the fashion scene and that’s why we saw a lot of celebrities make a bee-line to watch her collection. We saw famous faces such as Ashley Tisdale, Chrissy Teigen, Lo Bosworth, and Olivia Culposit on the front row cheering for Conrad.
Another popular designer who finally debuted at the New York Fashion Week was Tadashi Shoji. He displayed many of his signature feminine frocks that were inspired from the spring season seen in Japan. Shoji showcased flowing dresses, gowns in tulle and sheer, all of which had intricate embroideries and blossom motifs. Since the First Lady Michelle Obama has already been seen wearing the designer’s gowns on numerous occasions, we are sure that it won’t take long for other celebrities to be seen soon in his creations.
Marissa Webb didn’t really pack in a lot of surprises in her collection as she used her usual bright colors as well as a lot of military overtones in the collection. The tomboy-meets-the-girly-girl was prominent in Webb’s collection. She also made use of a lot of monochromatics but didn’t shy away from showcasing fluid tailoring. One of the major takeaways from the collection was the military-green feminine wrap trenches and full skirts.
Desigual’s collection was all about women who play more than one role in life. Her collection had a lot of mini dresses in striped sporty cotton. We also saw psychedelic florals, a few sheer rompers (which, by the way, were very sexy) and the good ol’ trusted denims.
