Day 7 & 8 Report from New York Fashion Week Spring 2016

The curtains to the New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 are down. One of the most awaited fashion events of the year is over but for us it’s not the end till we wrap up the events of day 7 and 8. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s take a look at the designers who wowed us with their creations and left us wanting for more.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors showcased a feminine collection on Day 7 of the New York Fashion Spring 2016. There was more “earthy elegance” in the collection where he stitched fluttery petal flowers on pleated dresses. The collection was primarily in hues of red, blue, white and black. Michael Kors also made use of wide black leather belts and grommets that seemed to provide strength to the dresses.

Kanye West

West was one of the last entries to the fashion week schedule but notwithstanding all the confusion his entry made, the rapper/ designer showcased a military-style collection that was applauded by the live audience. The many models, who were lined upin military-style had hoodies on, wore parkas, stretch pants and also bodysuits. This was his second Yeezy collection. The colors used were light khaki to light brown, army green, tan and dark brown.

Naeem Khan

Unlike previous years, Naeem Khan did not do metallics for the upcoming spring season. Rather the designer chose to stick to brilliant colors which primarily reflected the Mediterranean hues. The highlight of the collection was the ball gowns in lilac, ombre-pink and marigold.

Ralph Lauren

As the models entered the runway in Ralph Lauren creations, we heard many “ohhhs” and “aahhs”. That’s because Lauren managed to bring forth a collection that saw the French Riviera in a modern light. The bright red, white, cobalt blue and navy hues did wonders to the neat cuts. From jumpsuits to gowns, Lauren experimented with a lot.

Francisco Costa

Costa presented the Calvin Klein Collectionby taking us back to the ‘90s era. Most of the collection edged on off-kilter and highlighted unraveled knits stitched as dress and sweaters. The Calvin Klein collection also showcased deconstructed theme.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs put the curtains down on the New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 in quite a dramatic;actually scratch that, a cinematic manner. He took the show to the Ziegfeld Theatre, where the models didn’t have the standard runway. They walk out of a stage door right onto the red carpet outside, much to the surprise of fans standing, and then entered the theater’s main room. The collection had a strong American theme, with ample use of cobalt blue, white, red colors. Jacobs showcased varsity jackets, sailor suits, majorette ensembles and camera-patterned intarsia knits. Almost all modelsworth their name walked in Jacobs creations.

So it wasn’t really a surprise to see Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk, Emily Ratajkowski, Karen Elson, Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima and many more walk the “runway”.
