Blue star sapphire that worth’s £119M is regarded as the world’s largest diamond to be found in Sri Lanka. The gemologists of the country announced the discovery of the largest blue star sapphire, as per the BBC reports cited on the 4th January. The weight of the stone is 1,404.49Ct. and the evaluated selling price is approx. $175 million according to the report.
Claimed to be the world’s largest Blue Star Sapphire according to the gemologists of Sri Lanka, it weighs 1,404.49 carats that worth in the jewelry market £119M. The reckoned rate of this enormous sapphire is $175 million, but might go up as per the demand, the report stated. Furthermore, acclaimed as the world’s largest blue star sapphire, it is extracted from the city of the gems, known as Ratnapura that situated in the southern part of Sri Lanka. Further, this largest blue sapphire is certified by the nation’s capital, i.e. the Gemological Institute of Colombo. As the present possessor of the stone, whose identity is anonymous as he does not wish to disclose, articulate the BBC World in an interview that the minute he caught the stone he decided to purchase. Moreover, he enunciates that he took the risk to buy the stone when brought to him thinking it as the world's largest blue star sapphire. The owner in an interview with the BBC World in the BBC World Service's Newsday program too stated that he wishes not to disclose the price he purchased the world’s largest Star Blue Sapphire. As per the BBC reports, The previous record holder Star Blue Sapphire weighed1,395 carats.
