A shielding stone, Actinolite was named in 1794 by a Greek name, “Aktina”, by Richard Kirwan. In English, Aktina means “ray stone”.
Actinolite is the stone of dreams, which assist the wearer in recalling dreams, analysing dreams, and connecting with the dreams of his previous birth, and ancient civilization. There are various varieties of Actinolite which are used as gemstones. One is Nephrite, and the other is cat's-eye Actinolite. The nephrite is one of the two variants of Jade, the other is Jadeite. On the other hand, cat's-eye Actinolite is a stone that carries chatoyance. This is a green to a yellowish variety of Actinolite, which is opaque and has an amazing cat’s eye effect.

It is an amphibole silicate mineral, which belongs to the series of minerals known as Ferro-actinolite and tremolite. In this series, Actinolite acts as the intermediate member. This series of mineral usually take place when ions can freely replace with each other. When the quantity of magnesium is predominant, the mineral is tremolite, and when the quantity of iron is more, the mineral is Ferro-actinolite.

Actinolite is used for decorating ornamental jewelry. I was also searching for gemstone with dual characteristics, one that it should be used for making jewelry and other as usual well composed of healing properties. I think I should go for this talisman. Should I? Please suggest.

I just purchased an actinolite sphere at a shop in Herkimer, NY...I've never heard of it before. I was googling info on it and it said it contains abestos and is dangerous. Is this true?
